PVC — IGLO Series
IGLO 5 Entry Door
The value tier of the IGLO PVC door line. 70 mm depth, 5-chamber Class A frame, 3-chamber sash. Ud = 1.0 W/(m²K). Thermal-break aluminum threshold standard. The right call for secondary entries, multi-family interior doors, and accessory dwelling unit primary entries where the budget needs to stay disciplined.
- 1.0 W/(m²K) Ud
- 70 mm Frame depth
- Class A Profile (EN 12608)
- 3-point Multi-hook lock
- Double-pane Argon glazing
- Aluminum Thermal-break threshold
Why spec this one
IGLO 5 entry door is the workhorse of the PVC door line. Same Class A profile platform as the IGLO 5 window line. Lower thermal performance than IGLO ENERGY or IGLO EDGE, but with the European hardware, the thermal-break threshold, and the 3-point multi-point lock that distinguish a serious entry door from a basic residential slab.
Three reasons IGLO 5 door is the right tier:
- Cost discipline. Lower per-door price than IGLO ENERGY or IGLO EDGE. When the unit count is high (multi-family back entries, accessory units across a single-family parcel, secondary entries across multiple buildings), the savings stack.
- Adequate thermal. Ud = 1.0 W/(m²K) meets New Jersey energy code for residential entry doors without modification. Better than typical North American fiberglass or steel entry doors. Upgrading to triple-pane glazing drops the Ud further if the project needs the boost.
- Same hardware platform. 3-point multi-hook lock, 3 two-leaf hinges, aluminum thermal-break threshold. Operationally identical to the premium doors in the line. The customer doesn’t lose the European entry door experience to save money.
If the project needs a quality European entry door but the application doesn’t justify the premium thermal tier, this is the model.
Standard equipment
- 3-point multi-hook lock (top hook, middle latch, bottom hook from the deadbolt)
- 3 two-leaf hinges
- Aluminum handle
- Mounting cylinder for the lock hardware
- Double-pane argon-filled glazing at Ug = 1.1 W/(m²K)
- Aluminum threshold with thermal break strip
- 2 EPDM perimeter seals

Full technical detail
IGLO 5 entry door is a 5-chamber Class A PVC entry door system at 70 mm frame depth with a 3-chamber sash. The system uses the same frame platform as the IGLO 5 window line, with the addition of a structural door slab and entry door hardware including 3-point multi-hook locking and 3 two-leaf hinges. Class A profile designation per EN 12608 specifies outer wall thickness of at least 3.0 mm.
The frame is built from primary PVC material with embedded steel reinforcement. The sash uses 3-chamber PVC construction with foam thermal core. The 3-chamber sash is the cost-saving difference from the IGLO ENERGY door (5-chamber sash) and IGLO EDGE door (6-chamber sash), while keeping the operational hardware specification consistent across the line.
The seal configuration uses 2 EPDM gaskets: interior perimeter and exterior perimeter. The central gasket present on IGLO ENERGY and IGLO EDGE doors is not part of the IGLO 5 door specification. The 2-seal arrangement is adequate for standard residential entry door applications in the Northeast US climate and provides the cost differentiator that keeps IGLO 5 at the value tier.
Thermal performance of Ud = 1.0 W/(m²K) is achieved with the standard double-pane argon-filled glazing at Ug = 1.1 W/(m²K). The Ud is the highest (least favorable) of the three PVC entry doors but meets New Jersey energy code for residential entry doors and is significantly better than typical North American fiberglass or steel entry doors at the same price point. Upgrading to triple-pane glazing at Ug = 0.5 W/(m²K) reduces the Ud to approximately 0.85 W/(m²K), which closes most of the gap to the IGLO ENERGY door.
The aluminum threshold with thermal break strip is standard, matching the threshold specification across the IGLO PVC door line. The thermal-break threshold is one of the key practical reasons European entry doors do not develop the seasonal condensation and bottom-rail moisture issues that affect some North American entry doors after 10 to 15 years of service.
Hardware is 3-point multi-hook locking (top hook, middle latch, bottom hook engaged from the deadbolt), 3 two-leaf hinges sized for the residential slab weight, aluminum handle, and mounting cylinder for the lock hardware. Smart lock and electronic strike upgrades are available.
Color options include factory-standard PVC in white and brown, plus the Renolit foil range for wood-grain finishes and custom RAL color matching. The frame and slab can be specified in different finishes.
Operation types are single-leaf swing in standard residential proportions. Double-leaf configurations are available with additional structural reinforcement at the meeting stile.
Application range is secondary entries on residential, multi-family back entries and interior corridor doors, accessory dwelling unit primary entries, garage-to-house pedestrian doors, and replacement work on standard residential where the existing entry door is at end of life. The system is particularly common on high-unit-count projects where per-door cost discipline drives the spec. NFRC-equivalent thermal data, slab style references, and threshold detail drawings are available by direct request.

Selected finish:
Where it fits
Spec it for
- Secondary entries (side entries, back doors, mudroom entries)
- Multi-family back entries and interior corridor doors
- Accessory dwelling unit (ADU) primary entries
- Garage-to-house pedestrian doors
- Replacement work on standard residential where the existing entry door is at the end of its life
- High-unit-count projects where per-door cost discipline matters more than premium thermal performance
Don't spec it for
- Main front entries on premium custom residential (use IGLO EDGE PVC or aluminum entry line)
- Passive house and high-performance applications requiring Ud < 0.85 (use IGLO ENERGY or IGLO EDGE)
- Exposed elevations where the central gasket sealing of premium doors matters (use IGLO ENERGY)
Within the line
IGLO 5 is the value entry to the European PVC door line. The 70 mm depth and 2-seal configuration are the cost levers. Hardware, threshold, and operational quality are consistent with the premium tier.
