Why spec this one
Face-brick (clinker brick or brick veneer) walls present a specific installation problem. The brick layer sits in front of the structural wall with an air gap or insulation cavity between them; standard frames are designed for the structural wall face, not the brick face. The typical result:
- The window sits behind the brick line — brick around the opening has to be cut and shaped to return to the jamb (slow, labor-intensive masonry).
- Exterior trim has to bridge the brick face back to the window (custom flashing and trim per opening).
- The brick edge at the jamb is exposed and prone to mortar joint failure over time.
IDEAL 7000 NL solves all three. The frame is 120 mm wide with exterior flanges on all four sides that lap over the brick face. The masonry trade lays brick straight up to the flange — no cutting, returning, or custom trim. The brick face reads clean and continuous across the elevation. For traditional brick-front residential, brick veneer multi-family, and any clinker or face-brick construction, this is the right window.

IDEAL 7000 NL is a specialized PVC tilt-turn window system with a 120 mm wide frame and integrated exterior flanges, originally developed for the Dutch market for installation in face-brick (klinker) construction, and appropriate for North American brick veneer across the Northeast US climate envelope.
The 120 mm frame width is significantly wider than standard PVC tilt-turn frames (70 to 82 mm), accommodating the wall depth from the interior face through the air gap or insulation cavity to the brick veneer face, with exterior flanges projecting outward to lap over the brick on installation. The flanges (≈30–40 mm) on all four sides let brick coursing be built up without cutting or returning the brick at the perimeter; the flange-to-brick joint is sealed with masonry sealant per the project flashing details.
Thermal performance of Uw = 0.82 W/(m²K) is achieved with the standard double-pane argon IGU at Ug = 1.1 W/(m²K) and the Swisspacer Ultimate warm-edge spacer (free upgrade). The number is slightly higher than the IDEAL NEO MD family due to the 5-chamber geometry and wider frame; triple-pane glazing within the 24–54 mm range reduces the Uw to approximately 0.70. The system uses 2 perimeter EPDM seals without a central gasket; acoustic insulation is 36 dB.
The hardware differs from other IDEAL NEO models in that the Hoppe aluminum handle (German premium brand) is standard rather than the generic aluminum handle; the MACO MULTI-MATIC KS multi-point locking platform is shared across the line. Color options include three factory-standard colors (white, anthracite, cream) plus the Renolit foil range; cream is common on traditional brick-front residential, anthracite on contemporary brick-and-charcoal, white on Colonial Revival / Federal / Georgian.
Operation types include tilt-turn, fixed, and tilt-only; custom shapes within standard brick coursing modules. Application range is residential and multi-family with brick veneer or face-brick cladding. The system is not appropriate for non-brick cladding (stucco, EIFS, fiber cement, vinyl, wood), where standard wall-face systems deliver better thermal performance and visual integration.
