PVC — IDEAL Series

IDEAL NEO MD

The slim symmetrical profile plus the central EPDM gasket plus four frame width options. 6-chamber Class B, Uw = 0.76 W/(m²K). For modern residential where the wall thickness varies across the project and the spec calls for the central-gasket sealing performance.

Why spec this one

IDEAL NEO MD sits one step above IDEAL NEO AD in the slim sightline family. Two real differences worth paying for:

  1. The central gasket. Three EPDM seals including a central gasket between the perimeter seals. Improves air infiltration ratings under wind pressure and bumps acoustic and thermal performance at the sealing interface — particularly useful on exposed elevations and noise-sensitive locations.
  2. Four frame widths. 76, 122, 142, or 162 mm. Match the frame depth to the wall thickness and external insulation layer, eliminating the gypsum infill work typically needed to match a standard 76 mm frame against a thicker wall.

If the project has thick insulated walls (which most new energy-code-compliant Northeast US builds do) or mixed wall thicknesses, the wider frame options save labor on the install. If the spec calls for premium sealing in a slim sightline, the central gasket does the work.

Full technical detail

IDEAL NEO MD is a 6-chamber Class B PVC tilt-turn window system available in four frame width options (76, 122, 142, and 162 mm) with a central EPDM gasket in the standard seal configuration, designed for modern residential with varying wall thicknesses and external insulation depths.

The Class B profile designation per EN 12608 specifies outer wall thickness of at least 2.5 mm, enabling the slim symmetrical profile that defines the IDEAL NEO family while maintaining structural adequacy for residential and light commercial use across all four frame widths.

The central EPDM gasket is the primary differentiator from IDEAL NEO AD: a third sealing line between the perimeter interior and exterior seals that improves air infiltration under wind pressure, reduces acoustic transmission at the seal interface, and distributes the compression cycle across three gaskets to extend functional sealing life.

Frame width selection matches the window depth to the wall thickness without secondary gypsum return work: 76 mm for standard walls, 122 mm for moderate external insulation (4-inch EIFS / continuous insulation), 142 mm for substantial external insulation (6-inch layer), and 162 mm for super-insulated assemblies including passive house and deep double-stud walls. Thermal performance of Uw = 0.76 W/(m²K) is consistent across all four widths, achieved through the 6-chamber geometry, triple-pane IGU at Ug = 0.5, the Swisspacer Ultimate spacer, and the triple gasket system.

Standard glazing range is 24 to 52 mm. Hardware is MACO MULTI-MATIC KS with 4 anti-burglary engagement points, Silber-Look coating, sash position blocker, and microventilation. Operation types include tilt-turn, fixed, tilt-only, side-hung, and top-hung; custom shapes supported. Application range is residential new build and renovation, multi-family premium tier, and light commercial across the Northeast — particularly projects with thick walls, varying wall thicknesses, or external insulation layers. NFRC-equivalent thermal data and wall detail drawings for all four frame widths are available by direct request.

Where it fits

Spec it for

  • Modern residential where slim sightlines and central gasket sealing are both required
  • Projects with thick walls (EIFS, ICF, double-stud, or super-insulated assemblies)
  • Buildings with varying wall thicknesses across different elevations
  • Exposed-elevation residential where air infiltration ratings drive the spec
  • Multi-family premium tier where the central gasket is part of the marketing
  • Replacement work on contemporary homes upgrading slim sightlines and sealing

Don't spec it for

  • Standard wall thicknesses where the four-width flexibility isn’t useful (use IDEAL NEO AD)
  • Projects requiring cubist square-edge aesthetics (use IDEAL NEO MD-FS)
  • Installation within external insulation layers (use IDEAL NEO MD MONOBLOCK)
  • Retrofit over existing wood frames (use IDEAL NEO MD RENOVATION)

Within the line

IDEAL NEO MD is the standard mid-tier of the IDEAL NEO family — same slim profile as AD, plus the central gasket and frame width flexibility.
